Nothing better to fasten timber used to make a bridge out of. Super dipped galvanized is second to none for corrosion resistance.

This is why the same house built in the 70s and 80s for $200 grand now costs $400 grand. Go back another 50 years and wadded-up newspapers was used for insulation and tarpaper was used under the exterior sheathing. Mold was unheard of. If he's trying to protect the entire house, why isn't the primary barrier on the exterior of the structure, then you wouldn't have to worry about electrical and plumbing stub-outs, inside corners. I know doing so would open another can of worms, and I welcome that argument!!

If the air barrier is only on the exterior, you can't control moisture-laden air from entering the wall cavity from the interior. If the air barrier is only on the interior, you'll get wind-washing of the insulation when the air enters from the exterior. Using two air barriers fixes both problems. Also, air-sealing is rarely perfect and is liable to fail given enough time. Having two air barriers can help the system stay functional for longer.

Accidentally bought a pallet. Price was right, and fit into the budget. Galvanized ledger. Ice & water shield, then Tyvek. Tabs make stones adjustable. Looks fabulous. Everyone who sees it agrees. Dry,dry, dry. LOVE this product. Will be using this on my next build! Hear some negative comments. Leaning towards operator error or lack of an eye for installation. From Wisconsin, state motto - “Forward!”

This ERV uses over $400 a year in proprietary filters - beware if total cost of ownership matters to you. The cheapest of the 3 Panasonic filters, the MERV 8 FV-FL0820VE1 / FFV1610109S costs $95.95 plus panasonic and the manual says "The replaceable OA filter should be inspected or changed every 90 days. ** The OA filter may need to be replaced more frequently depending on outside air conditions.**”

These horses are more commonly know as Trestles, and are used to hold a beam (a 4x12 inch beam) and smaller plank (1x12 plank to hold tools), to form a Japanese beam bench. You can also make some lower ones, about 8-14” high for Low Bean Bench. I built mine 20 years ago to make the Beam Bench, with the trestle permanently draw pegged joined. I like your knock down version, very nice. Cheers

Harbor Freight sells Avalon nylon brushes that are extremely high quality for half the price of Purdy or Corona. I never clean out roller heads. They are disposable to me. Cleaning roller heads during a drought is tantamount to sacrilege, plus fouling the water supply is antithetical to my ecological ethos.

Let's say there are 100 tiny leaks and you seal 80 of them, which leaves 20. You spend more money up front sealing and insulating, so you can spend less for a smaller HVAC unit. And energy cost go up almost every year, so the savings compound.

I hate those 'in the wall' styrofoam over-boxes. Considering any top plate openings and the drywall edges will be sealed, how is any measurable pressure differential ever going to develop ? That is the only way flow happens. An utter waste of material and time, and is just more junk that winds up in a landfill at some point. The hacks that pulled this idea out of their arse should immolate themselves: they made housing more expensive with zero benefit to persons or the environment.
